🎁 A 20% Off Birthday Treat + Giveaway Gifts

I celebrated my birthday over the weekend, and I'm keeping the fête going with a multitude of gifts for you! In addition to giving you 20% off all TPK Catalog (digital) items through Wednesday, I've got a fabulous giveaway that will have two winners.

The "Little Black Dress" of Calligraphy Birthday Cards
(This is one of my favorite birthday card concepts on the TPK site. So elegant!)

20% Off TPK Catalog Items - Use Code BDAYTREAT

Long before the TPK Supplies Shop existed, TPK exclusively offered digital items. I've been making worksheets, video courses, and exemplars since 2014! The most popular item on the site is the Amy Style Calligraphy Worksheet Set, which has been enjoyed by more than 25,000 learners around the globe. Other favorites include:

Beginner's Modern Calligraphy Online Course | The Postman's Knock
The Beginner's Modern Calligraphy Online Course - The most detailed, reasonably-priced pointed pen calligraphy course on the web
Not Your Average Calligraphy Drills: Garden Edition
Garden Edition Calligraphy Drills - TPK's most popular "Not Your Calligraphy Drills" packet, featuring several unique and challenging calligraphy drills
This Core Worksheet contains 34 pages of information + quality practice. This is the third version of the worksheet that I've released, so it's benefited from plenty of learner feedback!
Kaitlin Style Calligraphy Worksheet Set - This worksheet teaches a bouncy, artistic calligraphy style that's speedy to create and endlessly customizable
Watercolor Illustrated Maps 101 eCourse
Watercolor Illustrated Maps 101 eCourse - This is a niche course, but it's my favorite on the site because it's so cool to see students' creations

In short: the TPK site has some amazing learning resources that you can enjoy anytime, anywhere! To celebrate my birthday and just say "thanks for being part of TPK", I'm offering 20% off all digital items through Wednesday at midnight. Use the code BDAYTREAT in the "Have a gift card?" field at checkout!

I hope that the discount helps you to hone a skill or discover a new passion. Your success is my success, so I couldn't ask for a better birthday gift! Remember that the TPK site has plenty of freebies if you're not in the position to purchase a learning resource.

A Sparkly Giveaway

One of my very favorite supplies is the TPK Finetec palette. It's something I use all the time because it's elegant and unique. I mean -- who wouldn't want to be able to write in a royal-looking gold or a shimmery mint green?

This is the TPK Finetec Palette: a collection of fun and practical colors!

Whenever I take this palette out, even my children marvel at the jewel tones and want to be part of the fun. Sometimes I let them paint alongside me because, well, why not? Any chance I get to show them that making art is just as great as having screen time is a win.

Making DIY Paper Ornaments

If you're curious about the types of projects you can make using the palette, you can find inspiration in Metallic Watercolors and How to Harness Their Power. Trust me, though: you'll love this palette, and I'm so excited to send it to two lucky readers!

ENTER TO WIN

The giveaway will end on August 6, 2024, and it is open internationally.

Look for It Soon: Hand Lettering for Beginners eCourse

Last week, I sent out a survey to gauge which video course to work on next. The results were really close between a Hand Lettering for Beginners and a re-do of the Digitizing Artwork and Calligraphy eCourse, with Hand Lettering winning by a narrow margin.

In the process, I also received excellent write-in and emailed feedback on other course ideas. Someone suggested doing a course on mail art; another person requested illustration and crosshatching; and a watercolor enthusiast voted for an intermediate watercolor course. I'm on board for all of those! But, first: hand lettering. Look for it in early September! Thanks so much to everyone who voted; I really appreciate it.

On Keeping Birthdays Special

This year, I officially became closer to 40 than 30. And if there's one thing I've kept a steadfast opinion on these past 36 years, it's that birthdays should always be special. In our house, that means a delectable cake (this year, it was a blackberry olive oil cake with lemon mascarpone cream) and some sort of indulgent activity, generally a spa day.

My husband bakes me the cake of my choice every year on my birthday. This year, the cake was especially gorgeous and tasty!

One of the most special parts of my birthday was hearing from friends who I haven't seen in years. When someone who isn't part of your everyday life remembers your birthday, it's such a good feeling. An old university friend who is firmly not a snail mail person even mailed me a card, which I loved! Being on the receiving end reminded me of just how much it means to someone when you remember their special day. So, when you can, send a birthday card to a loved one, even if you're not in their daily orbit. That gesture will go a long way!
